Bunnehs...a mysterious folk

Iris loves her winter coat, but she's so much more active without clothes on...direct quote from Joel "Iris is more sassy without her clothes on." She also has invisible friends she plays with...greyhounds are strange.

I've been trying so hard to get adorable pictures of the bunnies, they are too fast! Bun bun is much more comfortable in front of the camera than charlie is, he's scared of everything. Poor lil' fellow, i do nothing but scare the poop out of him, literally, he poops when he gets scared, hehe.

Someday...i will get an amazing picture of the buns.

You want every dog..

I'm still completely computer illiterate, its so confusing to upload pictures on here, they never come out in the order i want, and having to upload the pictures before i start typing is even more confusing...someone has to come up with a better way!

Anywho...i never posted pictures of the terrariums that i made for christmas...i ended up only giving one of them away because i fell so much in love, haha.

The little fawn is my favorite.
These are some pictures i took at work awhile ago when we had a bunch of kittens that needed homes, this guy i was trying to take a picture of, and he wanted nothing more than to crawl inside the camera!!! hehe, it's so cute.
Woah, what's that?!

We are wasting away...

Joel and i have decided we need to do more. All we ever do is sit around and drink beer...this has all come upon us since Joel hasn't been able to eat for the past 4 days...a man really starts thinking when he can't eat. I wouldn't recommend it.

And the dogs haven't left us alone all day...I had a very excellent day, work was amazing, it was one of those super productive, busy but not hectic days, and i did all my research on nasal intubation on rabbits!! I'm so excited, we're spaying three rabbits from the shelter on tuesday, and not to say they will be my guinea pigs, but they really will be, i'm going to be nasally intubating them for their surgeries...this may seem like french to most people, but it's very exciting for me!

Speaking of buns...i can NOT wait until the trees start growing leaves again, the buns are so restless with nothing to chew on, except cardboard boxes, during the summer i would saw off huge branches with green luscious leaves for the buns to chew on all day until their tummies were plump and full and they were happy buns.

Anywho...I need to eat.

Fun at the zoo

As you all know...its flipping COLD outside, and since we still have to wake up everyday and work outside, when there's no people out at the zoo, we need to find things to occupy and take up our time...todays fun: An Electrocuted/frozen squirrel. It ended up in cars, on cars, on sheds, in the back of cars...fun was had by all...except the poor lil' squirrel who met his demise, but i was trying to convince people we need a squirrel army like the Janitor in Scrubs...Muhahhaha.

Yea, i know...we're sick. But it's cold out and we have nothing else to do. Alright, well i'm home now and i have a headache. Good day.

Is it all done?

I was so rushed today, i feel like i missed something at work. Which is the worst feeling in the world when you work at a zoo.

One day i was working the "North America" area, which is like the bear, otters, raptors...lots of bigger animals than i usually work with...Well after the first month of working at the zoo one of my co-workers left the bear out over night, it was the middle of the summer, so it was probably pretty nice, but i don't know if i'd ever be able to live that down...also i'm told stories of the otters getting out, which will make your head spin when you're lying in bed.

Speaking of letting the otters out brings me to my first story of freak out. When working with the otters in the summer theres lots of draining and skimming and crap you have to go inside the exhibit to get to it...so you have to lock the otters inside holding and unlock the exhibit and go in, and then make sure you lock it before you come out, yadda yadda...Well I had been used to doing that in the morning with my a.m. routine, but for some reason that day, i decided to go into the exhibit before we closed for the day, and i went home...and freaked out! I couldn't bring myself to believe that i had locked the door...I mean the otters getting out during the day is WAY different than them getting out during the night...at night they have the whole night to swim away in the creek, where during the day, someone would probably spot them before they got too far....

So i got home and could not relax. i was freaking out, i wasn't going to be able to sleep that night. So my mom told me i should just go back to the zoo and check, if it would make me feel better. So my mom offered to come with me, and soon my dad wanted to come too, so we all climb into the car to drive back to the zoo...mind you, now it's like 7.

The ditch gate is locked, and i don't have my keys for that...i have my keys to get into the zoo, but not the ditch gate, so we decide to jump it...well of course juuuust as we're all climbing over the gate, a car drives by and sees us. AND turns around...and slows down, and stops...shit.

So i'm freaking out, they're going to call the cops...Being sweet as he is, my dad goes to the car to try and convince them that i really do work here, and we're not breaking into the zoo.

After all this, i get to the otter building...and all the doors are locked and the otters are safe.

That's why i feel like i forgot something...
